Interesting upwind/downwind lap this week, with a twist, as the course is not quite aligned with the wind direction. That slight offset allows for some radical options depending on the boats' ability to run downwind. The Flying Shadow for instance lets you sail directly to the leeward mark in AREZZO. It is a fun ride, as you need to sail on a tight balance, between enough angle to the wind to accelerate and foil, but not too much unless you're willing to commit to gybing... On other boats, you will need to play for speed on the reach, with several gybes on the way to that same leeward mark. On the upwind, think about where you need to tack, and try to play the landscape wisely to minimize their number...
