Back to basics, I see, with a staight-forward banana-type course: long upwind, then long downwind! We will work these tacks and gybes and learn more about the best angle to maximise VMG with our favorites boats Thanks Hotlaps team ! My strategy for this one: tack before the line for a port start, close to the right line-marker. Push the tacks as long as possible, sailing high to minimize distance (depending on the boat, from a Moth to a Trudeau: 40 to 60 TWA, 20 to 40AWA). 4 tacks later, bear away around the island, making sure you dont hit anything (there are some high grounds if I remember well) Well... 4 tacks or 6 (or more?), depending on the boat again, and her capacity to sail high into the wind.... 3 gybes should be enough to be back to finish, ending the lap on Starboard tack. feel free to comment and add your thoughts Cheers & Bon vent a tous !
