**** Please click here for the latest "How to Enter Lap Comments". ****
To all HotLaps Junkies, We all benefit from your lap comments and appreciate your taking time to enter them. With that said, there are a couple things that we would like done to make the comments even better. First, please don't add cell notes or comments from the sheet menu. These are not visible in the display. Simply type your comments directly into the cell. Second, please don't enter comments in the cell for another skipper's time. This prevents the other person from adding comments to their own time. Thanks and Happy Sailing....

OK Fanny, but please can we have something for writing a comment to a skipper or answering each other? Dedicated column, cell, or whatever... Interactivity is what makes comments a cool thing and for myself i have a big smile when someone drops me a word

I guess we can still drop a word or 2 to a fellow sailor within her/his comment cell. That should not prevent her/him from adding to it... I agree with you, Loo, I enjoy that we can interact this way

We now use a HUD to enter Lap Comments for your LAST LAP in the HotLaps sheet.
Click the small round prim labeled "HOTLAPS Comment & Chat” near the other HotLaps boards (or add a copy of the HUD to your screen) and then click "Last Lap". Enter your comment into the text box and click "Submit".
Note: if your LAST lap already has a comment, the new comment is added to the previous lap that does NOT have a comment.
If you want to leave a comment on another sailor’s lap or just some general chat, click “Chat" after clicking the "HOTLAPS Comment & Chat” prim. Your chat text will show under the map in the HotLaps sheet "Chatter" area.

Awesome work Fanny! I can't wait to see it. btw, can we still enter our comments directly in the sheet? I don't always write a comment immediately after a lap, but sometimes some time later or even the day after. well, i'll test it tonight

Thanks Looralie. This was a joint effort between myself and Burt, so thanks goes to Burt also.
I can send you the HUD and you can use it when and where you like. Remember it always adds the lap comment to the LAST lap. So if there already is a comment on that lap, it won't add it.

Modification to Lap Comments:
Instead of adding your lap comment to your LAST lap, it is added to your LAST lap that does not already have a comment.
For example:
1. My first lap started at 08:00 AM.
2. My second and last lap started at 08:30 AM.
3. I add a lap comment at 09:00 AM ... it goes to my last 08:30 AM lap.
4. I add a lap comment at 09:30 AM ... it goes to my first 08:00 AM lap. Lap start Comment 08:00 AM Second comment entered at 09:30 AM 08:30 AM First comment entered at 09:00 AM

I'm sorry but i think it's too complicated. Why couldn't we simply add comments directly into the spreadsheet cells like we used to do? At least i need to be able to precisely choose which lap i want to comment, and which sailor's comment i want to answer to.

Agreed editing the website was easier. ( if you do not count having to open the website and the hassle making multiple lines of text ) We have an on screen HUD available for who wants it so you can touch the HUD and leave your comment without going to the website after you did your lap.
We chose this to avoid people adding comments to a lap time that is not their own. ( now we know for sure that if one wants a time deleted it is asked by the setter of that time for example ) if you want to react to a sailor's comment you can do so in the chat portion.
some comments are about the course being nice or hard or about lag or no lag, i can imagine they would all go in to chat and you can react to it there. If you want to compliment another sailor on a fast time you can do so in chat. and they can react to it there too. imho a nicer way to communicate then in former comments..
i kinda like that Fanny has made it possible to comment to laps when you feel like it, if you have 3 times and wanna comment in the first send a "." twice and comment the thirth so it lands in your first set time. Its very doable.

How To Enter Lap Comments:
Lap comments have been changed. They are no longer entered directly into the Hotlaps sheet. Instead, they are now entered using the " HOTLAPS Comment & Chat” HUD or the small round " HOTLAPS Comment & Chat” prim located near the leaderboard at the current sailing location. A NC with the HUD has been sent to all junkies. If you missed it, either open the HotLaps Junkies group notices and retrieve it or ask another sailor for a copy. To enter a Lap comment:1. Click the HUD and then click “ My Last Lap". 2. Enter your comment into the text box and click " Submit". The comment will be automatically be added to your last lap. Options:
> If you want to add or replace a comment on a previous lap, simply precede the comment with the Hotlaps sheet row number and an asterisk (i.e. 25*). > If you wish to write a long, detailed comment about the course or specific lap, go to the HotLaps forum and add it to the current location comments here. > To add general chatter, simply click “ In Chat Box" in the " HOTLAPS Comment & Chat” HUD. Any questions or concerns, please as ask any HotLaps crew member or post in the forum.
